Mountain biking and bike rentals are easy to arrange. The Cabarete area is a paradise for this activity due to its miles of dirt tracks and mule trails.
Columbus Water Park. This water slide attraction is 2 km west of Sosua and the largest of its kind in the Caribbean. The park has several different types of slides, as well as pools. There are also restaurants and shops. Hours are typically 10 AM- 5 PM. Oceanworld Marine and Water Park. This marine park is located 5 km west of Puerto Plata in the resort area of Cofresi. It has the world's largest dolphin lagoon, the only sea lion encounter of its kind, and the world's first shark interaction pool. All of this along with tropical fish, reptiles, exotic birds, and even tigers. Surfing and Boogie Boarding. Most of the traditional surfing and boogie boarding is enjoyed at Playa Encuentro which is a short 5 minute drive from Cabarete.
Wakeboarding and Water Skiing in Cabarete. These activities are available on rivers and ocean areas where the conditions have been deemed safe for these sports.

The Dominican Republic offers some of the best windsurfing in the world; with warm, turquoise tropical waters and steady winds put your strength to the test!

Offshore, the Bahia Samana has been the preferred breeding area for humpback whales for many millions of years. Several boating companies offer whale-watching tours in season.

There are horses and ponies for rent from several equestrian centers.

Quad (ATV) riding is your opportunity to break free from the constraints of the Highway Code, go anywhere you like, and get as muddy as you like.

The Caribbean is world-renown for its diving spots. Come experience the ocean life of the tropics - close up!

Being able to play golf all year round is an additional benefit to visiting or living in the Dominican Republic. An 18 hole golf course is being designed and built by the famous Andy Dye in Las Terrenas and it should be ready in the second half of 2005.
